In 2019 the Bureau of Market Research (Pty) Ltd (BMR) at the University of South Africa (Unisa) conducted a situational analysis on trade and investment initiatives at local government level in South Africa.  The study was most valuable in assisting the South African Government Association (SALGA) to fulfil its mandate to transform local government.  More specifically, the scientific research produced by the BMR presented a sound basis to guide trade and investment decisions of trade promotion organisations (TPOs) and investment promotion agencies (IPAs) in South Africa.  Similarly, the research presented a valuable situational analysis for trade and investment initiatives at local government level in South Africa.

Overall, the research services of the BMR displayed quality research based on sound scientific methodological application of research theory and research ethics.
