This report presents insights into the trends and differentials in mortality from communicable diseases in South Africa during the period 1997-2013.  These findings are valuable for both public and private sectors when applying the findings to guide changes in, among others, the health and insurance industries of South Africa.  Likewise, information on mortality provides insights about the quality of the environment and poverty as some communicable diseases are environmental and poverty related.
