The development of municipal level employability index by applying econometric techniques to census 2011 data to determine the characteristics of the employed by C.J. van Aardt, G.P. Naidoo, K.A. Parry and D.H. Tustin (2015)

This report presents the profile of employed South Africans based on a sample of Census 2011 data.  The study is multi-dimensional in nature. It addresses the employment perspective in terms of economic theory, the derivation of an employability index from a statistical viewpoint, numerous employment and unemployment illustrations of spatial trends within both the national, provincial and municipal spheres reflecting the varied geographical interrelations pervasive in South Africa.  Given the pioneering nature of the study, numerous inferences regarding employability and future research opportunities for expanded employability knowledge are provided.
